OIL FILLED

A never-before-seen visual effect allowing to touch the Time itself.

WATER DROP EFFECT

TYPE 3 and TYPE 5 feature two separate sealed chambers, one filled with oil includes the ROCS as the other one filled with air includes the base calibre.

The upper half is filled with about 3.57 ml of oil to obtain a never-before-seen visual effect - called water drop. Graphs appear to be projected onto the top crystal as if onto a screen.

LIGHT REFRACTION

One result is superior legibility. Refraction - the bending of light as it passes from one material to another, as from air to glass and vice versa - typically distorts perception. Here, because oil and glass share very similar responses to refraction, the eye is tricked into momentarily losing its depth perception.

The result is that the watch's dial seems ever closer, vision of it apparently unimpeded by glass at all.

We fill and seal our TYPE 3 and TYPE 5 at -5 degrees Celsius. At this temperature the oil has its minimum volume.

CONSTANT LUBRICATION

The ROCS is entirely enclosed in the upper half. All parts are suspended in oil and are therefore constantly lubricated, resulting in very low friction between the parts.

LIGHTWEIGHT CATEGORY

Every additional complication affects the precision of the movement's operation because of the additional forces required to actuate levers and gears. Following Archimedes' principle, thanks to the oil, the relative weights of components are lowered and this results in better timing precision.
